Cluvo

How to play

Goal

Each day there's a hidden answer in every category (movies, football players, national teams). Your goal is to guess it in as few attempts as possible, using the hint tiles revealed after each guess.

The rules

  • You have 10 attempts per puzzle.
  • You can unlock up to 3 optional hints during play.
  • Each guess must be a valid answer (a real movie, a real player, etc.).
  • When the round ends, win or lose, you can see the answer and share your result.
  • Each category has a new puzzle every day at midnight.

The tiles (the most important part)

When you submit a guess, Cluvo compares each attribute of your guess to the hidden answer and shows you colored tiles:

  • Green: matches the answer. In multi-value attributes (genres, clubs), the matching values are highlighted green.
  • Yellow: a numeric attribute (like the year) that lands close to the correct one, though not exact.
  • Gray: no match on that attribute.

Tiles depend on the category. For movies: year, genre, director, cast and production companies. For footballers: birth year and country, position, debut club and clubs played for. For national teams: confederation, World Cup appearances, ranking and more.

Hints

You have up to 3 optional hints per puzzle. They unlock as you progress: on attempts 4, 7, and 9. Use them if you're stuck, they're not required, and solving the puzzle without hints rewards more points.

Group mode

You can create or join a private group to compete with friends. Each group has its own leaderboard updated in real time with every member's score. Share the invite code to bring people in.

Tips to play smarter

  • Start with broad and diverse guesses to expose multiple attributes at once.
  • Use gray tiles as much as green ones, knowing what it isn't narrows the search.
  • For movies, year and genre tend to be the most useful narrowing attributes.
  • For players, club and position are usually the most informative.
  • If you have only 2–3 attempts left, it's worth spending a hint.
